behind the lens
Mikaela Friberg · Photographer
Based in Billdal, on the west coast of Sweden
Photography has taught me to slow down, look closer, and discover the extraordinary hidden within everyday life.
I photograph with curiosity rather than certainty, always hoping to leave room for the viewer's own interpretation.
My photographic journey
Curiosity has always been at the heart of my photography. Whether capturing fleeting moments in the streets, the quiet beauty of nature or exploring new ways of seeing through creative in-camera techniques, I am drawn to photographs that evoke emotion, atmosphere and imagination. My goal is not only to document what is in front of the camera, but to create images that invite the viewer to pause, reflect and discover something beyond the obvious.
Although I enjoy experimenting with vintage lenses, intentional camera movement and in-camera multiple exposures, every photograph begins with a real moment captured through the camera. These techniques allow me to express not only what I see, but also what I feel, while remaining true to the authenticity of photography.
Recognition
Over the years, my photography has been recognised nationally and internationally through exhibitions, publications and competitions. I am honoured to be a five-time Swedish Champion in Photography and to have represented the Swedish National Photography Team. I also hold distinctions from the Fédération Internationale de l'Art Photographique (FIAP), the Nordic Society of Photography (NFFF) and the Swedish National Society of Photography (RSF).

Sharing my passion
Photography has introduced me to an inspiring community of people. Over the years I have exhibited my work in galleries, botanical gardens and photography festivals, led workshops and photo tours, given lectures to photography clubs across Sweden, and served as a photography judge in competitions. Sharing knowledge and inspiring others has become one of the most rewarding parts of my photographic journey.
